An IBADAN based Non-governmental Islamic Organisation Zakaat and Awqaaf Amana Foundation (ZAAF) through her programme Coronavirus Support Initiative (CSI) distributed bags of rice and beans to 60 needy among the vulnerable people in Ibadan on Sunday at Boluwaji Central Mosque, Ibadan.
The foundation also slaughtered a big ram to put smiles on the faces of those indigent households as palliatives for COVID 19 stay-at-home order issued by the government.
Murtadho AbdulGaffar, the National Chairman of the Foundation, explained that Zakaat and Awqaaf Amana Foundation was incorporated about 20 years ago.
The foundation, according to him, has embarked on a lot of beneficial projects since its inception. He made it known that enlightening people on Zakaat, its collection and distribution are the main aims and objectives of the foundation in addition to other humanitarian services like empowerment, feeding fasting persons (iftar sa’im), collection and management of endowments to mention but few.
Nurudeen Yekeen, Executive Secretary of the foundation while addressing the journalists, explained that Coronavirus Support Initiative project was aimed at cushioning the effects of Covid-19 pandemic.
He remarked that ZAAF management will not relent its efforts of empowering the poor masses and making life comfortable for them.
Yekeen mentioned that the foundation has branches in Abuja, Lagos, Ogun, Osun and Kwara with its headquarters in Ibadan, Oyo State.
ZAAF Secretary then appealed to well-to-do Nigerians to support the foundation in all its projects by donating generously to the foundation account below: Zakaat and Awqaaf Amana Foundation 4091164767 Polaris Bank.
He thanked all the donors and prayed Almighty Allah in His infinite mercy reward them and bless their sources of income.
Rasheed Haashim, Oyo State representative of ZAAF in his words of advice urged the beneficiaries to always remember our dear country in their prayers at this trying time. He appealed to the rich to be merciful at the poor during this COVID 19 pandemic most especially as 1441 Ramadan seriously knocks at the door.
One of the recipients, Mikail, expressed appreciation to ZAAF management, praying to God to continue enriching the foundation.
It should be noted that Zakaat and Awqaaf Amana Foundation is one of over forty Muslim organisations that constitute Muslim Coalition Against COVI-19.
