FORMER Vice President Atiku Abubakar, and presidential candidate the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has picked former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, as his running mate.
Elendu Reports had reported exclusively that Atiku was given options of former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, a former senator, Ben Obi and former Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and Ekweremadu to consider as his running mate as part of efforts to appeal to the South East geo-political zone.
But he has settled for the choice of former Anambra State governor.
Obi, however, has been trending on Twitter, with many saying he has emerged Atiku’s preferred candidate.
Deji Adeyanju, a PDP youth leader and activist, tweeted the information but was quick to add that it was not confirmed yet.
“BREAKING: Unconfirmed reports that Atiku has picked Peter Obi as running mate. If true, It’s a good day for Nigeria. We can now all say we are One nation under God where no one is marginalized on the basis of their tribe or ethnicity,” he wrote.
Similarly, Mathew Amadi, a PDP member who had worked as one of the party’s agents in the recently held governorship election in Osun State, shared a similar information. “Great choice. Peter Obi is a complete nwa afor [son of the soil],” Amadi tweeted.
Another Twitter handle titled “PDPVanguard” also shared a similar tweet.
