Festus Keyamo, fire-brand lawyer and right activist, has challenged the embattled Abdulrasheed Maina, former head of Pension Reforms Task Team (PRTT), to come out from hiding if indeed he has no case to answer regarding the multi-billion naira fraud allegation against him.
Reacting to the latest interview with Maina aired on Channels Television, Keyamo through his twitter handle , @fkeyamo, called on Maina to use the same medium to tell Nigerians those that stole the nation blind, as he claimed, instead of requesting for a private meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari.
“Why can’t Maina use the same medium he’s using from hiding to reach Nigerians to expose those that he’s been threatening to expose?
“And why ask for a private meeting with Mr. President? Do u expose people in private? Is it not more important for all Nigerians to know the ‘truth’,” Keyamo said.
Maina, in a fresh interview aired on Channels Television on Wednesday alleged that the President was being misled on the corruption allegation leveled against him and seek an audience to reveal the truth.
He also demanded 5 per cent payment for his ‘whistle-blowing on some government officials which allegedly led to the recovery of about N2 trillion by the Federal Government, just as he promised to help in the present administration efforts to rake in more money from looters.
Recall that Maina has been in hiding since 2015 after he was dismissed from the civil service for allegedly absconding from duty and attempting to evade arrest. He was to later secretly resurfaced as a director in the Ministry of Interior prompting condemnations from many Nigerians, who described the move as a shame on the government anti-corruption posture.
The fugitive Maina is wanted by the anti-graft agency, EFCC, for allegedly looting billions of naira from government coffers when he held sway as the head of the pension task team.
