THE Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) has written a letter to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) requesting for financial records of Douye Diri, the embattled candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming Bayelsa governorship election.
The CCB had earlier written the GTB requesting information on three bank accounts operated by Diri when he was deputy chief of staff to the Bayelsa state governor, Seriake Dickson.
Diri, has on three occasions, refused to meet with investigative panel of CCB which was set up in response to a petition by Joseph Ambakederimo, executive director of Bayelsa Coalition for Good Governance and Accountability.
The petitioners accused Douye Diri of failing to declare and concealing his assets between 2012 and 2014.
Even in other declarations made at the CCB by Sen. Diri following his election to the Senate, the PDP governorship candidate failed to disclose accounts numbers 0239633609, 0249221627 and 0293221376, all at the GTB.
As at the time of going to press, the CBN is yet to respond to the CCB letter of October 31, 2019.
The PDP candidate and 89 others are contesting the governorship of Bayelsa State in an election fixed for November 16.
Diri emerged as the PDP candidiate at the PDP primary held on Tuesday,September 3.
He belongs to the Governor Dickson’s Restoration Team; a team with a focus to continue the excellent projects of Governor Seriake Dickson in Bayelsa State.
