PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari, on Wednesday, spoke with Rebecca Sharibu, mother of the Dapchi Secondary schoolgirl, Leah, who was kidnapped along with her colleagues by the Boko Haram terrorists this year.
During the conversation Buhari assured her that his administration will do everything it would take to bring her daughter back home from the den of her captors.
The President consoled the Sharibu family and assured the parents that the Federal Government would do its utmost for the safety and security of their daughter.
“I convey my emotion, the strong commitment of my administration and the solidarity of all Nigerians to you and your family as we will do our best to bring your daughter home in peace and safety,” President Buhari told her.
He assured the mother that his heart was with her family, as that of the entire nation which continues to pray for the safe return of “our daughter, Leah.”
Recently the sect members gave October 15 deadline to the federal government to come for her release or else she will be slain if their demands are not met.
The threat prompted her parents, Mr. Nathan Sharibu, and his wife, Rebecca, to cry out to the Federal Government to help secure her release by meeting the insurgents’ demands.
Various religious bodies and pressure groups in the country have also prevailed on the presidency to secure Leah’s release, accusing the All Progressive Congress led government of being biased in fighting for the lone Christian girl release.
On exactly February 19, 2018, 5:30pm, one hundred and ten (110) schoolgirls aged 11–19 years old were kidnapped by the Boko Haram terrorist group from the Government Girls’ Science and Technical College (GGSTC), Dapchi, located in Bulabulin, Yunusari Local Government area of Yobe State, in the northeast part of Nigeria.
