Atiku Abubakar, Nigeria’s former Vice President, has described as barbaric the recent attacks on some communities in Adamawa State carried out by alleged fulani herdsmen.
Atiku, in a post on his verified twitter handle (@atiku) on Tuesday’s morning, said the attacks which led to the death of two district heads were shameful and called on Federal Government to act on the issue through its securities agencies to prevent future occurrence.
“This is a disgraceful, cowardly attack on innocent people. My thoughts and prayers are with my people of Lawaru and Dung.
“I implore the security services and Federal Government to ensure culprits are brought to justice and such murders do not occur in the future,” the Adamawa-born former number two man, who recently decamped from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), said.
It would be recalled that communities around Numan in Adamawa State have come under serious attacks from suspected armed herdsmen following an earlier attack on the herdsmen settlement in the area.
Hundreds of persons including about seven mobile policemen have lost their lives to the crisis, with property, including houses, worth millions of naira destroyed.
