TWO Nigerian Airforce fighter jets on Friday collided in Abuja during an Independence Day celebration rehearsals.
Eye witnesses said the jets collided and crashed in Mpape, a rocky suburb of Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.
Air Force spokesman Ibikunle Daramola confirmed the crash. He said there was no fatality.
“I wish confirm an air incident involving 2 Nigerian Air Force aircraft taking part in the rehearsals for the 58th Independence Day Celebrations,” he said.
“Thankfully, no lives were lost.”
The crash, an eyewitness said, occurred on top of a rock behind AA Rano filling station along Kubwa express road.
He however could not state the number of casualties but added that bodies believed to be those of the occupants of the crashed fighter jet were evacuated by Airforce ambulance.
