SENATOR Benjamin Uwajumogu, a member of the 9th Senate is dead. He died in his sleep early hours of today.
Uwajumogu, until his death this morning represented Imo North Senatorial in the 9th Senate and was a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He was born on June 30, 1968, according to his Wikipedia records.
Uwajumogu was in line for Deputy Senate President in the 9th Senate.
However this did not materialise because he was not sworn in the same time with his colleagues as there was a misunderstanding of the real state of his Senate seat.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared him as elected on election day but refused to give him the Certificate of Return.
This made him ineligible for swearing on the National Assembly inauguration day.
After a court order and victory at the Election Tribunal, he was sworn in to represent Imo North senatorial district.
Sources close to the late senator said he had struggled with ill health for a while.
