Ibrahim Attahiru, Nigerian Chief of Army Staff, is feared to have died in an air crash today while on an official trip to Kaduna.
Attahiru, a Lt General was believed to be on an official trip to Kaduna when the incident occurred.
Nigerian Air Force in a Twitter message Friday evening confirmed the incident but did not state who was involved.
Seven passengers including the Chief of Army Staff and the crew and his aides were on board the ill-fated aircraft.
“An air crash involving a @NigAirForce aircraft occurred this evening near the Kaduna International Airport. The immediate cause of the crash is still being ascertained,” the tweet read.

The military authorities were yet to make any official statement on the number of the personnel involved and their identities.
