Chief Edozie Njoku, national chairman of APGA, has been granted bail on self-recognisance by Justice M.A. Madugu of FCT High Court, Bwari.
His co-defendant, Chukwuemeka Nwoga, was granted bail with one surety who must be a resident of Abuja and a property owner or civil servant.
The Police prosecutor, CSP Ezekiel Rimasomte, was removed from the case.
Edozie Njoku and Chukwuemeka Nwoga were arraigned on 14 counts bothering, mostly on forgery of a Supreme Court judgement.
The charges were deemed as trumped by lawyers and people with knowledge of the matter.
Njoku and Nwoga were arraigned on Monday, November 28th, and the charges were read to them. They pleaded not guilty on all counts.
A bench warrant had earlier been ordered by Justice Magudu but was vacated on 28th November. The police had opposed the vacation of the bench warrant. The prosecutor opposed bail because he did not get enough time to react to the bail application.
The judge ordered Njoku and Nwoga to be remanded at Suleija prison and adjourned to today, November 30th for a ruling on the bail application.
