Boko Haram terrorists have launched a daring attack on a military base in Sasawa, a community close to Damaturu, the Yobe State capital, killing eight soldiers.
The soldiers according to report were court unaware by the terrorist who came with about seven gun trucks.
Kayode Ogunsanya, spokesman of 3 Div. Nigerian Army, confirmed the attack but could not give details of the casualty figure.
He said that many soldiers took to their heels after sighting the insurgents driving into the community with about seven gun trucks and others riding on motorcycles.
According to him, “there was casualty on both side of the army and the insurgents”.
However, a soldier who survived the attack revealed that eight soldiers, including an officer and a civilian were killed in the attack.
“I can authoritatively confirm to you that there was an attack at dawn yesterday at Sasawa and eight soldiers, including an officer as well as a civilian were killed during the raid.” He said
