The traditional ruler of Odu village Amos Ewa Ebere in the early hours of Saturday, was shot dead by bandits in Nasarawa Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
According to reports, the gunmen invaded the village on motorcycles and operated for hours,murdered Amos Ewa Obere, the village head, and injured some residents of the village during the attack.
Obere was said to have been rushed to Mararaba Udege General Hospital, for medical attention, but died on their way to the health facility.
Late Obere, was a retired ASP, who, until his death, was the ward head of his community and other surrounding villages.
As at the time of filing this report, no security operative had arrived the scene of the incident.
Recall that attacks from bandits and kidnappers have been on the increase in Northern Nigeria in recent times, leaving many people dead and several others displaced.
