Shehu Sani, Senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, has described the call on President Muhammadu Buhari to contest the 2019 presidential election by seven governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has unfortunate.
Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State, Yahaya Bello of Kogi State and their counterparts from Yobe, Niger, Adamawa, Kano and Plateau states, had after the Friday Muslim prayers at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, assured Buhari of their full support in the 2019 presidential election.
All the governors, except Simon Lalong of Plateau State, took part in the Friday Muslim prayers before they later briefed newsmen on their decision.
But expressing surprise over the timing of the decision, Senator Shehu Sani on Saturday morning said what the president needs now is support to address the mindless killings rocking the country.
The senator, who reacted to the APC governors decision on his twitter handle, @ShehuSani, said it is like throwing human conscience to the wind by calling on Buhari to run for reelection at a time many Nigerians are still mourning the death of their loved ones lost to violent groups in the country.
“Seven governors in the Villa asking President Buhari to run at this material time when all hands should be on deck to advice or support him to end the mindless bloodletting and carnage in the country is most unfortunate.
“Human reasoning and human conscience where art thou?” queried Senator Sani, who is also a member of the APC.
