Governors elected under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have asked for an extension of the February 10 deadline for the phase-out of the old naira notes.
The governors made the request when they met with President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja on Friday.
Sources within the Villa claimed that the meeting was aimed at mounting more pressure on the President to further extend the deadline so as to allow the use of the old and new notes concurrently.
Nasir El-Rufai, governor of Kaduna had a few days ago, raised the alarm alleging that some elements in the presidency are working against the former Lagos governor, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Those spotted at the meeting are governors of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai; Kebbi State, Atiku Bagudu; Imo State, Hope Uzodimma; Zamfara State, Bello Matawale; Ebonyi State, Dave Umahi; Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu; Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje; Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun; Yobe State, Mai Bala-Buni; Niger State, Sani Bello; and Kwara State, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq.
