AMNESTY International says Nigerian authorities must re-double their efforts to rescue the hundreds of civilians still detained by Boko Haram – including Leah Sharibu, who was abducted from her school in Dapchi town, and the remaining Chibok girls.
The human rights organisation stated this in a Tweeter message on Tuesday demanding the rescue of Sharibu who marked her 16th birthday in the Boko Haram captivity.

“Leah Sharibu should have been celebrating her birthday with family & friends. Authorities must do more to reunite her with her family.”
The organisation further urged Nigerian government to put smile on the face of Sharibu’s mother and her family by reuniting her with them.
“Mother of Leah Sharibu and the entire family are still waiting. The wait is getting longer. Nigerian authorities can put a smile on the face of her mother and her family by reuniting her with them,” it wrote on Tweeter.
