Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the presidential candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC), promised to birth an export-driven economy for Nigeria and reduce poverty if voted as Nigeria’s next president.
The former governor of Lagos State outlined his plan in an 80-page policy manifesto for the 2023 presidential election.
Tinubu said he would create a new society built on shared wealth, tolerance, compassion, and the steadfast commitment to treating every individual with respect and decency.
Among the top ten commitments he outlined in the document included creating a Nigeria, particularly for the teaming youth population, one where there would be enough employment paying reasonable wages to make life better.
Tinubu also pledged to birth a productive society, one which will invent and manufacture more of the products and services we consume.
According to him, Nigeria will be known as a nation of producers rather than merely consumers.
The manifesto which Elendu Reports obtained also indicated that there would be an increase in exports while reducing imports would help the naira and our way of life better.
He also vowed to Keep supporting our tireless farmers by implementing smart agricultural policies that encourage productivity and guarantee respectable salaries, enabling them to feed the nation and provide for their families.
“Upgrade and broaden public infrastructure to promote the best possible growth of the rest of the economy. Encourage and assist our youth and women by utilising developing industries like the digital economy, entertainment and culture, tourism, and others to create the Nigeria of the future right now,” he said.
“Provide the poorest and most disadvantaged people with training and business opportunities. We want to see a Nigeria where no parent must send a hungry child to night worrying about whether there will be food for them the next day.”
“Produce, transmit, and distribute enough reasonably priced electricity to offer our people the necessary power to illuminate their homes, lives, and dreams. Ensure that everyone has access to and can afford basic housing, healthcare, and education.”
“Finally, and most significantly, develop a bold, forceful national security strategy that will work to eradicate terrorism, kidnapping, banditry, and all other kinds of violent extremism from the face of our country.”
