Attahiru Bafarawa, a former governor of Sokoto State and a presidential aspirant within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says there can only be unity and fairness in the party when party chairmen across the country act neutral in selecting a formidable and acceptable presidential candidate of the party for the 2019 election.
Bafarawa stated this in Abuja when he hosted 36 states chairmen of the party at his residence, saying this is to enthrone justice, fairness and political unity among all the supporters in the country.
A statement signed by Nuradeen Dalhatu, the Head of Social Media of the Bafarawa Campaign Project (BCP), quoted Bafarawa as also charging them to be united with focus for the development and success of the party than any individual no matter how high.
“One of the biggest challenges that is facing our great PDP today to win the 2019 presidential election is solely under the care and supervision or actions taken by your humble approaches among all the aspirants; no matter at what direction or position.
“Therefore, I implore you to be fair and honest to all of us; this appeal is to all of you (even my state party chairman) not to digress or show concern to any particular aspirant, but give equal opportunity to everyone that has shown his interest,” Bafarawa said
He assured that if given chance he will use his political experience and goodwill to restore and redeemed the country from the failure of APC led administration.
Speaking earlier, Udom Ekpo, Chairman of the Forum of PDP State Chairmen, described Attahiru Bafarawa as seasoned, experienced and hardworking politician with focus and positive approach to the unity and development of Nigeria.
He said their visit was to pay homage and also assured him that all the party chairmen of the PDP are matured and politically orientated, therefore, will not allow themselves to be used to destroy the party unity.
He assured that they will treat all the aspirants with respect and recognition in order to ensure trust and unity withing the party.
